BIIAB Accredited Staff Induction Programme
This BIIAB scheme of accrediting company staff induction programmes recognises that the licensed retail industry carries out valuable training, which is of a high standard and worthy of national recognition.
BIIAB has researched this area of training provision and has identified that many organisations would value BIIAB accreditation. There is also evidence that high quality staff induction training can have a major impact on staff retention.
This programme provides a low cost method for licence retail companies, to obtain accreditation for their existing induction training, which not only gives them competitive advantages, but also offers employees a genuine opportunity to obtain a nationally recognised BIIAB award.
This will provide organisations with the opportunity to gain national recognition for the individual programmes. BIIAB will consider Staff Induction Programmes from established organisations from within the hospitality, retail and education sectors, to include training providers.
Induction programmes are likely to fall into one of the following categories:
- an existing induction programme under which delegates and/or staff are assessed and receive an 'in house' certificate, reflecting their performance during training.
- an existing induction programme which is currently not assessed, but for which the company seeks to implement an 'in house' assessment and certification process, to reflect the delegates performance.
- a programme either new or existing where the content is revised to meet the BIIAB benchmark criteria, or where the organisation would like the BIIAB to design the appropriate assessment method and/or produce the certificates on behalf of the organisation.
The guiding principles of the scheme include:
- the ownership of the design of the induction programme remains with the organisation, submitting the application.
- by applying for the accredited Staff Induction Programme, organisations are indicating a willingness to work with the BIIAB in raising standards for training within the hospitality, retail and education sectors.
- organisation detail submitted to the BIIAB will be considered confidential.
